Edward's Baptism:

On the 1851 census, Edward claims to have been born in Guilsfield; on the 1861 census, that he was born in Meivod.
These two villages are separated by no more than 5 miles, with the hill and woods of Broniarth roughly midway.

So far, we have found two possible contenders for Edward's baptism; both in Meivod, Montgomery.

2nd May 1794 to parents, Edward and Margaret, of Broniarth,
or,
23rd July 1797 to parents, Richard and Elizabeth, of Meivod.

The first might seem more likely on the grounds that forenames often run in families. No Richards appear in 'our' Edward's offspring, but he does name one of his sons, Edward.
On the other hand, at the registration of his death, in 1873, his age is stated as 76, which would fit better with the second possibility.

Edward Parry, batchelor, married Frances Williams, spinster, on 10th July 1820, in Guilsfield. The marriage was carried out after banns and both parties claimed to be from the parish.

Frances Parry (1821 - ),

[Baptised on 4th February 1821 at Llanfyllin. Family living at ?? Nant-y-Meichiaid, (a valley running south of Llanfyllin). Frances married John Davies, in Liverpool, in 1847 and subsequently, they lived in Wirral, with their children: John (1847), Mary (1848), Francis (Fanny) (1850), Samuel (1856), George (1858), and Thomas (1861). (They later adopted William (1884)). ]

Harriot Parry (sic) (1822 to 1823),

[Baptised on 4th February 1822 at Llanfyllin. (Harriot on the parish register). The family was living at Rhysgog, near Llanfyllin. Harriot was buried on 23rd August 1823 at Llanfyllin.]

Jane Parry (1824 - ),

[Baptised on 25th April 1824 at Llanfyllin.
The family were living in the Township of Bachie at this time. Father, Edward was a labourer.
Jane married twice: Her first marriage was on 8th December 1846 at All Saints, Leamington, to Henry Redfern (1823 - 1860), a coachman. They produced five children: Henry James (1850), William (1850), Mary Jane (1852), Ellen (1855), Alfred (1857). Her second marriage was to James Timms (1842 - ) on 31st August 1863 at Leamington Prior. They had two sons, James William born (1865 - 1865), and James Henry (1868 - 1872.]

[Baptised on 16th March 1828 at Llanymynech. Thomas's mother is named as 'Fanny' on this record.
The family were living in Carreghofa (Carreghova), at this time. Father, Edward was a labourer.]

Harriet Louisa Parry was probably born in early January 1830.
She was baptised on 17th January 1830 in the parish of Llanymynech.
Her parents were Edward Parry and Frances,(née Williams). Edward was a labourer and they lived in Carrighova, near Llanynynech.
[Llanynynech stands on the border between England and Wales, which runs down the high street, splitting the town in two. Carreghova is actually on the Welsh side of town.]

Harriet Louisa Parry married Edwin Wheate on 8th February 1858 at St Nicholas Church, Liverpool, after banns.
Both were of full age. Edwin a bachelor, Harriet a spinster.
Edwin, a watch case springer, was resident in Old Hall Street and gave his father's name as John Thomas Wheate, a tanner.
