Thomas Cave of the parish of Liverpool, labourer and Mary Glover, of the same parish, spinster, were married in this church by Banns on 27th November 1809
Witnesses - J. Woolley?, Ellen Farrington

Thomas's children

James Cave (1810 - 1863)
[baptised 12th April 1810, Childwall. ]
John Cave (1811 - )
[baptised 28th July 1811, Childwall. (Living in Halewood.)]
William Cave (1813 - )
[baptised 13th June 1813, Childwall. (Living in Halewood, Thomas is husbandman.)]
Jane Cave (1815 - )

Thomas does not seem to have survived until 1841 but his wife Mary is found staying with their son, James, and his children:

James Cave age 31, Wheelwright
Thomas Cave age 11
Martha Cave age 8
Mary Cave age 6
Ellen Cave age 16
Mary Cave age 57

Mary Cave is James's mother, widow of Thomas Cave (1779 - ).
The Ellen listed here is a mystery as yet, being listed out of age order and possibly too old to be one of James' children. (James was a widower, his wife, Margaret (née Barton) having died between 1835 and 1841). He did not re-marry until 1843.)
Ellen might possibly be a younger sister, taken in, along with his mother, Mary, when father, Thomas, died.

1851 census
I'm not sure about Mary's whereabouts in 1851. Her son, James, and family are in Wavertree. (see section below)
There is a Mary Cave aged 55 and Ellen Cave aged 23 staying with John Glover and family in Cronton. However, We are not convinced that this is Thomas Cave's widow. The age is wrong for a start. There must be a familial connection between the Cronton Glovers and Caves and the Halewood/Wavertree families but we have yet to sort it out.

Thomas' widow, Mary, appears again in 1861:

Mary is James' mother, now widowed.
James was a widower, not re-marrying until 1843.
The Ellen listed here is a mystery as yet, being listed out of age order and possibly too old to be one of James' children.
This could possibly be a younger sister of James, taken in, along with his mother, Mary, when his father, Thomas, died.
Alternatively, she might have been a daughter of Margaret Barton before she and James married in 1828, and taking on the name Cave once they married.
