John Catterall (1811 - 1859)

In Brief:

In detail:

Marriage

John Catterall either married Mary Critchley on 17th April 1826 at St Nicholas church, Liverpool.
or, he married Mary Rainford on 10th June 1832 at St Paul, Liverpool.
of these, the latter seems on balance to be more likely. Firstly, 'our' John's first child appears to be Peter, who was born in born 1832. Secondly, John is described as a labourer on later documents.
The John Catterall who married Sarah Critchley in 1826 was described at the marriage as a 'skinner', which is more specific and does not appear later for this family.
However, we have no definite evidence to rule out the earlier marriage yet.
